the prisoners shelter

Welcome to the riot. Prisoners Unite – the first and still the only project created by prisoners, for prisoners, with one clear purpose: to support their journey back into society.

“After spending a total of 15 years behind bars, our goal was to build something that could spare others from the same bleak and meaningless routine. Through music and art, I wanted to awaken creativity and offer a path they can truly follow.”

What moves us

From the basement cells of Justizanstalt Graz-Karlau to an NGO-driven movement and a growing musical force – that’s where the story of Prisoners Unite begins.
What started as a typical prison band in a tiny rehearsal room inside the facility, with a constantly changing lineup, has evolved into something far greater. We still miss Günter’s distinctive voice, but with Donna, we’ve found far more than just a replacement – we’ve found a powerful new presence.
Even though we are now able to perform live on stage, we never forget where we came from: a time when we had to fight for every single guitar string, every drumstick, and every hour of rehearsal. Those struggles are our foundation.
We’re not proud of the past – but we are proud of what we’ve built from it.

latest video

From the latest album “Live Bars”, the video “Still not done with it all”.

A defiant statement of resilience. Despite our past in prison, this song makes it clear that we are not finished, not broken, and not defined by where we’ve been. It’s about standing tall, pushing forward, and refusing to be written off.

What next?

We’re proud to share that we’re currently working on new songs for our upcoming album “Dark Matter.”
The record will explore a darker direction, with a subtle dive into gothic rock and several tracks that truly live up to the album’s name – dark, atmospheric, and intense.

Expect something different.

The planned release is scheduled for late 2026.
